My production consists mainly of videos and drawings. I’m especially interested in environmental issues and how they affect our mindscapes. At the moment my main theme is food and agriculture and the need to rethink how we’re going to provide nutrition to the growing population in the warming climate.

Lately I´ve been focusing on plants when working on these themes. I may go to a vegetable garden and study a single plant on its location. Then, at my studio, I draw a portrait of it. In another project I drew self-sufficient farmers and asked them to give advice for wannabe farmers. I like to collaborate with people of other professions and let them give me some input for the artworks.

Last year I worked with an archaeobotanist who inspired me to make a series of wood cuts of archaeophytes -plants that people have brought to a new place in ancient times. Those plants remain on the spot and carry a message form our ancestors, but most of the time we can´t read it as the use of the plants is already forgotten.

In addition to my artistic practice I have functioned as a part time lecturer and tutor at the Arts Academy of Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) 1999-2019. I have also coordinated, curated and planned environmental, situation specific and public art projects for Turku Artists’ Association and TUAS. The largest of these is In Public, In Particular (IPIP), a participatory and situation specific project  in 2015-18. I worked as the Artistic Director of the  IPIP project, which was co-financed by the Creative Europe Program of the European Union. http://ipip-project.eu/  I also worked as the Project Coordinator of Utopian?  *), a joint project of University of Turku and the Arts Academy of Turku University of Applied Sciences in 2019-20. The aim was to produce workshops combining  means of active citizenship and artistic processes to vocational school and upper secondary school students. https://blogit.utu.fi/utopiaako/
