Looping video, single channel, sound, Villiviini/Creeper, 00:04:03, 2022

ENG: A small house is covered with a giant creeper plant which basically hides it from our eyes. The creeper lives on a surface provided by people and acts as a home for insects and snails, which are part of local biodiversity and provide nutrition for birds. One can think that the plant protects the people living in the house and that it represents nature symbolically and concretely in an urban surrounding. The plant is so big that you can´t pass it by unnoticed, instead, you greet it like a neighbour living next to you. The video depicts the changes on the plant from Winter to Autumn and the entirety is based on the soft spatial experience created by the creeper.

FIN: Teoksen lähtökohtana toimivat kuvat valtavasta villiviinistä, joka peittää rakennuksen seinät ja kätkee pienen talon sisuksiinsa. Villiviini elää ihmisen tarjoaman kasvualustan päällä ja toimii kotina hyönteisille ja etanoille, jotka ovat osa paikallista biodiversiteettiä ja tarjoavat ravintoa linnuille. Sen voi ajatella myös suojaavan talossa asuvia ihmisiä ja edustavan symbolisesti ja konkreettisesti luontoa. Kasvi on niin suuri, että sitä ei tule ohitettua puutarhassa huomaamatta, vaan sitä tervehtii kuin tervehtisi naapuriaan. Video kuvaa kasvin vaiheita talvesta syksyyn ja kokonaisuus rakentuu suuren villiviinin luoman pehmeän tilallisen kokemuksen varaan.
