Winter Sports

These aquarelles were painted during a very snowy winter. Snow surrounded everything and made people appear as if they’re on stage. I could notice every gesture, way of walking or different choreographies people accidentally formed on that white surface.

There’s very little sports in this series, despite the title, but more everyday actions which take place even if it is cold outdoors. The weather conditions can be seen in the postures: the thick layers of clothing make it more difficult to move, maintaining body temperature while standing is difficult and slippery surface makes balancing a challenge.
